In the historic center of Fira, Santorini, GALILEOS|JOHN GRILLAS PARTNERS undertook the detailed design and construction of the new DEVOUS Jewels jewelry store, 150 sqm, from the ground up. The building, a characteristic example of traditional Cycladic architecture, was structurally reinforced and reconfigured, highlighting the impressive groin vaults of the ceiling, the space's dominant architectural feature.
Completed in 2019, the project achieved energy class B, using a heat pump for heating and cooling. The design combines the stone-built, vaulted sections of the original shell with contemporary furniture and lighting, creating a welcoming retail space in the heart of Fira's commercial center.
